Before there was language, there was sensation.

Before there was analysis, there was instinct.

The body knew when to move toward warmth, when to retreat from danger, when to rest, when to grieve, when to gather, when to protect what mattered. Long before modern culture separated mind from body, psyche from earth, instinct from intelligence, human beings understood themselves as part of something living.

This is part of what the myth of Gaia remembers.

Gaia is not simply “nature” in the flattened way the modern world often imagines it. She is primordial intelligence itself. The living ground beneath consciousness. The generative force from which life emerges and reorganizes itself in cycles of creation, destruction, adaptation, and renewal.

From a depth psychological perspective, Gaia represents something the modern psyche has become profoundly estranged from: the wisdom of embodiment.
